I had stored the image on an external hard drive, now I am using the image on the external hard drive to restore the hard drive on the laptop. In this video I show you how to reinstall the operating system complete with the updates and software applications from an image that I had stored on an external hard drive. Previosuly I made the image with "disk utility" and had saved it to the external drive. Now. I used the Mac OS install DVD to boot up the Mac, then using disk utility I chose to "restore". Watch the video to show you how to do this. However if you dont have an external hard drive, but do have another Mac with a firewire port, you can use the second Mac as an "external hard drive" by connecting the second computer to the first one with a firewire cable connecting both Macs.
